Should you be fired for taking time off from work after loss?
Grieving people should not have to worry about losing their jobs. Right now, if your child dies, you can be fired the next day for not showing up for work. If your spouse dies, you can be fired the next day for not showing up for work.
Today, millions of bereaved Americans have no job or wage protections.
There’s legislation being considered RIGHT NOW that will protect grieving people. WE NEED YOU to help make it happen. Lawmakers need to hear why protection for grieving people is important. They need to hear your voices and your stories.
It all comes down to 16 people in Washington – these people decide whether your employer protects and supports you when someone you love dies, or whether employers can freely fire you for taking days off after a loss.
How can you help? Share your story. YOUR story is what convinces these people to pass this legislation. These 16 people need to hear from you.
Evermore made it easy to learn about the legislation, and share your story – at this link.
Each legislator has their phone number attached to their name. Simply tap the phone number to make the call and share your thoughts. Seriously – such low effort for such big pay off. Go get it done! And come on back here and leave a comment to let us know how it goes. Your voice – your story – matters.
PS: Yes, this involves calling these 16 elected officials. But you know what’s worse than making phone calls? Getting fired from your job after your person dies. And besides, you’ll likely reach their voicemail where you can leave your story without talking to someone directly!

Our window to get them to pass this legislation to protect grievers closes in September. If you want to get protections for grieving people to pass the Senate, these 16 senators need to hear from YOU.
You can call each office more than once. Grieving people REPRESENT!
And please share this post! We need to flood the voicemail boxes of these 16 people.
